Hotel Hauser – Your central hotel in Nuremberg

It's all about history

Built at the Unschlittplatz in 1800, the guests at the HOTEL HAUSER enjoy their stay in a cozy and historic atmosphere. The Unschlittplatz, with its medieval buildings, is one of the few surviving historical ensembles of the city of Nuremberg and continues on the southern bank of the Pegnitz with the Unschlitthaus the former city wall.
The Unschlittplatz attained nationwide prominence when KASPAR HAUSER appeared there on May 26, 1828 and addressed two Nurembergers at the corner of House No. 8. The fate and the origin of the unknown and his violent death in Ansbach in 1833 occupied the world at that time and has led to countless researches and literary editions to this day.

Central start for the most beautiful tours and business meetings

You step outside the door and have the choice. The most beautiful sights of Nuremberg are just around the corner from the Hotel Elch. The Nuremberg Imperial Castle, the wine market with Sebalduskirche, the Hauptmarkt, the Kettensteg, the Toy Museum, the Albrecht Dürer House, the new Deutsches Museum and many, many more highlights. Even if you are on a business trip or visiting a Nuremberg trade fair, you will enjoy the old town flair. And if you are still looking for a corner for a meeting, we would be happy to welcome you to GEIER, our workspace with event character.

You are a guest of the family

The friendly and individual is what many guests love at the Hotel Elch. We have taken over the passion as hosts from our boss Robert. He carries the host gene in the fourth generation. And you can feel it. His wish is our goal: guests from all over the world should feel at home at the Hotel Elch in Nuremberg. And hopefully soon you too!

Tips by Mr. Horka: A perfect day in Nuremberg

City tour with stunning views: My recommendation for the morning

In the morning, I recommend taking a leisurely stroll through Nuremberg´s beautiful old town. You can take a walk on the picturesque castle hill next to Albrecht Dürer´s house. The name says it all: “Café Wanderer” on Albrecht Dürer Square invites you to have a little break while enjoying a cappuccino. From here your walk will take you to Nuremberg´s castle and its viewing platform, offering stunning views of the city and its surroundings. This is exactly the right spot to take a few great shots above the city´s rooftops.

Nuremberg´s specialties for lunch

A visit to Nuremberg is not complete without enjoying tasty Franconian food. My personal recommendation: lunch at the restaurant “Bratwursthäuschen” located directly next to St. Sebald´s Church. The original Nuremberg grilled sausages are served here on tin plates in rustic style, best accompanied by freshly draught beer – the traditional atmosphere brings across the characteristic feel of a typical Nuremberg restaurant!

Strolling along Germany´s longest shopping street

Spend the afternoon on Germany´s longest shopping street, right in the centre of the city. You will discover a wide variety of shops suited to every taste and budget: small boutiques can be found alongside big department stores and branches of well-known fashion designers. If you fancy a little break head to one of the many small cafés around here. My personal favourite: “Bergbrand” located on the end of beautiful Weissgerbergasse. They offer tasty coffee and a seat in the sun.

Dinner at „Albrecht Dürer Stube“

For dinner there is no better option than Albrecht Dürer Stube located in the street of the same name. My recommendation: make a reservation beforehand! The owner himself is the kitchen chef – his repeatedly awarded cuisine treats you to regional and seasonal ingredients always freshly prepared. Another big plus: Albrecht Dürer Stube has a wide variety of guests and prices are very reasonable.

Nightlife

A short walk from the restaurant takes you to the main market square and Heilig-Geist-Spital on to “Rote Bar”. “Rote Bar” is a popular venue for all ages, scenesters, tourists and party hoppers alike. Cocktails are particularly delicious here – attentively prepared using only the best ingredients! Rote Bar makes the perfect start into Nuremberg´s nightlife.

"If the Hotel Hauser is fully booked, just ask for the Hotel Elch. This is also part of us – and is just around the corner."
